The Train Driver Training Process - After Qualification As A Train DriverAfter qualifying, you will be out on your own like any other Train Driver. But you will have the status of newly qualified driver for 2 years, during which time you will be regularly assessed, and regularly have competency managers riding out with you to observe. This is all to make sure that you remain competent and safety standards continue to be met. You will also have regular medicals, and meetings with your manager. New information, technology, rules and procedures are constantly being released, and will have to be learnt and understood. In a way, the training never ends, as you are constantly learning new things. After the initial elation at being out on your own as a fully fledged Train Driver has worn off, many Train Drivers get bored and down beat with the job. In all truth, you're not really learning any transferable skills, so if you were to leave the industry, you would be hard pressed to get a job which pays anywhere near as well. There is however scope for promotion to management, or training. Once you have enough experience, you too could become a Train Driver instructor. As I mentioned earlier on, you are now in a position to move to other companies, and play the money game. There is a rather large variance in pay between the different operating companies, so you can try to trade up and get yourself a better salary. You may even want to move geographical location where cheaper housing is available, and to do this you may have to move train company. Go to next page: Contact me>>>>>Hosted By
